Message of the President, March 5th, 2019

Dear friends and colleagues,
Dear ECBE members,

It is my pleasure to greet you again and share a few actual information.

As some of you might have already noticed, we have a new website running. There still need to be adjusted a few things, but the “core site” is running, and includes actual con-tents, which are now easy to access and use further. Many thanks for that specifically belong to Polona Tominc, and Jan Vanherck, who did vast majority of all the work. Now you will gradually receive the registration codes to access the “private” part of the site, and important information aimed for the members only.

In connection with that, you can register for the conference, and subsequent standard Annual General Meeting (AGM) being prepared in the traditional term of the end of May (24-25). We are preparing an interesting programme, which, though, also depends on you and your active participation, which we want to award with a discount of the conference fee. See the details on the web (https://ecbe.eu/index.php/conference-2019).

As for the May AGM, let me remind you that you have chance to propose new candidates for the Board of Directors: there are two mandates (Jan Vanherck and myself, Pavel Zufan) that end at this AGM, and we have to (re)elect the members of the BoD. Therefore, I am calling you to send proposals for these mandated before April 5, 2019, so that we can announce the candidates for these two positions. Do so, please, by sending an e-mail with the nomination and the nominees CV to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

We are in the process of preparing for ENQA accreditation, and I want to thank you again for your active participation in the Extraordinary AGM in January, which enabled us to proceed. We will keep you updated on further progress.

One of the things BoD has decided is to gradually move towards a single membership fee not differentiating the accredited and non-accredited members. Due to the recent difference, we decided not to make a “revolutionary” change, but gradually progress towards that, so the membership fees for non-accredited members have been risen to 2700€ per year, with the plan of the following progression: 2019: 1600€, 2020: 2000€, 2021: 2400€; 2022: 2700€ (equal to the actual accredited membership fee).
The idea is that we want to incentivize all members to become accredited members – also to prevent a confusion of the meaning of “member” and “accredited member”. I hope you understand this logic, and accept it.

So, let me thank you again, and wish you a great spring.

We will stay in touch.

Best regards,

Pavel Žufan
